• Objective: Certify a manufacturer has reduced their energy, water and/or waste by implementing sustainable manufacturing practices.
• Definitions: Integrating sustainable practices into manufacturing operations to improve environmental performance including:
  • Energy efficiency practices
  • Water conservation
  • Elimination of waste and emissions
  • Internal recycling of waste
  • Closed loop and industrial ecology processes
• Reference Documents: ASTM E2129 Standard Practice for Data Collection for Sustainability Assessment of Building Products to assess the sustainability of products and manufacturing operations; Flooring products can be assessed per NSF/ANSI Standard 140 or Standard 332.
