GreenCircle will conduct a detailed evaluation of the product, raw materials and manufacturing operations to verify and certify the renewable/bio-based or rapidly renewable resource content claim.
- Objective: To validate the amount of renewable/bio-based or rapidly renewable material within a product.
- Definitions:
- Renewable/Bio-based Material: A commercial or industrial product (other than food or feed) that is composed of biological products, including renewable domestic agricultural materials and forestry materials.
- Rapidly Renewable: Agricultural products, derived from both plant and animal sources, which take ten years or less to harvest.
- Reference Documents: Farm Bill 2008, Definition of Bio-based, ASTM D6866, or the USGBC LEED Rating Systems, Definition of Rapidly Renewable Material.
